Morrison tire recommends to change your oil every 3,000 miles or as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. This information can be found in your vehicle owner's manual. We recommend changing your synthetic oil every 6,000 miles.
What is synthetic oil?
A Synthetic motor oil is often recommended for a high output engine or vehicles that are operated in extremely cold or hot climates. Although synthetic motor oils are more expensive than mineral-based engine oils, they can improve fuel economy and provide longer intervals between oil changes. Some manufacturers utilize synthetic engine oils exclusively.
What is that milky brown engine oil?
If your engine oil has turned a milky-brown color, there is a strong probability that coolant is in the engine oil. This is commonly caused by a blown head gasket (or other gasket), a failed transmission cooler, or cracked casings. This is a very serious issue that should be checked by a technician immediately.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Morrison Tire recommends rotating you tires every other oil change or about 6,000 miles. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear and many tire manufacturers will void a warranty if there is evidence tires have not been rotated frequently. Morrison Tire will rotate you tires for free if the tires are purchased at our facility!
What should I set my vehicles air pressure to?
Every vehicle has a different recommended air pressure. This information can most commonly be found by viewing the psi specs on the driver door or door-jam. What is TPMS and what does it mean?
A Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a system designed to monitor the air pressure in each tire of the vehicle. This system electronically relays tire-pressure information to the driver via indicator lights on the dashboard. The TREAD Act of 2000 mandates the use of TPMS technology in all light motor vehicles to help alert drivers of low-pressure conditions.
What does the "service engine soon" or "check engine" light mean?
Your vehicle utilizes a series of sensors and computerized components to manage engine and emission performance. When your "check engine" light illuminates, it has indicated that a component in this system has failed. Even though the vehicle appears to run fine, it is important to have the issue addressed in order to stop larger, more expensive repairs. A check engine light that is left on is unable to indicate when a new - possibly very serious - problem arises.
My vehicle is overheating. What should I do?
This is a very serious problem - if your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off! Do I really need to replace my timing belt at the manufacturer recommended interval?
YES. A failed timing belt can result in major engine damage in many cars. The cost of repairing an engine damaged by a broken timing belt is much greater than the cost of a timing belt replacement. If you cannot find information on when to replace your timing belt, give us a call and we'd be happy to look up the the mileage interval for you.
When should I replace my car's fuel filter?
If your vehicle utilizes a serviceable fuel filter, it should be replaced as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. If you cannot find this information, Morrison Tire would be happy to look up fuel filter maintenance in our factory system!
How often should I change my spark plugs?
Spark plug life varies considerably from vehicle to vehicle. Morrison Tire recommends finding this information in the owner's manual of your vehicle. If you cannot find this information, Morrison Tire would be happy to look up spark plug maintenance in our system.
What is a cabin air filter?
A cabin air filter filters outside dust, pollen, mold, and bacteria from outside air sources entering the vehicle. Most vehicles come equipped with a cabin air filter that should be exchanged every 15,000 miles. Consult your owner's manual or ask your Morrison Tire service adviser for exact manufacturer replacement intervals.
